General Information

Mental Health Practitioner, HCPC registered dramatherapist, trainee supervisor and DfE registered teacher. I have worked for nearly 15 years with children and young people with histories of trauma and/or neglect. This has been in education with children who were out of school, with their families and the services that are there to support them and as a therapist for a foster care agency. Since December 2015 I have been employed fours days a week by CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) as a Tier 3 Mental Health Practitioner.

I have served on the Dramatherapy Southwest Committee in a number of different capacities. I am currently (2017 and 2018) Chair of this organisation.

In 2001 I gained an MEd in Psychology of Education, and in 2011 an MA (distinction) in Dramatherapy. My preferred approach to dramatherapy is to use the practice of developmental transformations (DvT) as developed by David Read Johnson and colleagues. This approach evolved as a form of dramatherapy mainly from work with Vietnam Veterans and is being continually refined to increase its effectiveness with those affected by trauma and other life-restricting conditions.

In March 2014 I graduated from the Institute of Developmental Transformations and, with Tracey Wills, I have been running the DvT practice and training days in Exeter. Contact Tracey or me for information about these days (at which take place every 6 weeks or so in Exeter or East Devon.

Systemic priciples and those of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy are also major influences on my practice. I have now completed Level 3 IFS training.

I receive full supervision for my work and I have experience of working in a range of settings. In September 2018 I am starting to train for a Diploma in Creative Supervision (130 hours) at the London Centre for Psychodrama which I should complete in summer 2019.
